A friend has an 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Officer's sword with pipe back blade and Victorian cypher. It is named to H.Thornley. I have the 1841 and 1846 Army Lists and the 1850 Militia List (a bit late) but can find no trace of him. Can anyone help ? I have no other details or photos.

Hi Chris,

Have looked at EIC lists Bengal Madras and Bombay (Military), 1821, 1831, 1837, 1841-1857, 1859; India Army list 1862, 1877, and Madras Army List 1852, and can't find H. Thornley. The only person of the name I found was Thomas Thornley of the 43rd Foot..

G'day Chris,

The only H Thornley I could find served in the First World War.
