Of interest if only to click and copy, of course the originals good to have.

Interesting history even if these were never produced.

Hi Will
I hadn't spotted that, very interesting. For future reference (i.e. after the link has expired, here is a photo). Sword of Duke Wilhelm August Ludwig of Brunswick (1806-1884)

Re: Auction alert
Here is a mameluke coming up shortly at Bosleys. It is said to have been totally refurbished - I wonder if that refurbishment included the blade inscription - does anybody else think it looks a bit dodgy?

Re: Auction alert
Haha ...
There's another lot in the same sale (759) described as
'Georgian 1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword. This example of small proportions, possibly carried by a cornet of a regiment.'
So were cornets only allowed to carry small swords? or did all cornets have to be under 5ft in height? You've got to laugh ....

G'day Guys,
One thing I have noticed is that on swords, "HUSSARS" is normally written in block letters, but who knows...
Cheers,
Bryce

Re: Auction alert
Etching does not look right to me. 15th, the "th" is very plain lettering and does not match the other font. The letters do not flow and appear to be Letraset or similar.
Some good swords coming up at Antony Cribbs auction.

Re: Auction alert
As it is described as “completely restored” I think there is no doubt the etching is new. Surely the point is that as it is not a regimental pattern for the 15th was it marked as such before the “restoration” or has that been added for financial gain ? In other words, is it a honest sword ruined by greed ?
