G'day Richard,
I posted this sword on the previous page. There is one just like it in the collection at Plas Newydd, said to have belonged to Henry Paget. There are a couple of portraits of him with it. There was another sold at the "House of Hanover Sale" in 2005, but it had a complete, full length blade. Hopefully this isn't the same sword.
Cheers,
Bryce

Hi Bryce
Sorry, missed your previous post also! I've just looked the one in the HoH sale - here it is but the photo is so small that I'm afraid you can't see any of the detail.

Unfortunate someone played rough with the blade.

it's a bit shocking that such a catastrophic fault is not mentioned in the item description ....

I suppose they would say a picture says a thousand words.

However, I’m still minded to bid.

Have they asked you for a USD500 deposit as a pre-requisite to being an approved bidder?

Haven’t registered yet. I’m waiting for a rough shipping quote. Do they ask for a deposit ?

Chris,
Yes, they asked me for US 500. I declined.
Richard
Ps, I wasn’t serious about bidding anyway

Rent a vehicle and they ask for a deposit and they are refunded when not used. This sword professionally repaired will be worth much more.
